Ted Travers

Ted Travers, 50, of Farmington, Ark., passed away Aug. 30, 2014, with his family by his side. He was born Feb. 5, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nev. He grew up in Cedarville, Ark. Graduated from Cedarville High School. He then became part of the United States Army where he spent 24 and a half years serving his country. He was stationed in Panama, Hawaii, Sinai, Germany, Korea, Ft. Campbell and Ft. Polk. Through the military was able to achieve Ranger School, Airborne, Air Assault, Jungle School, Battle Staff. He was married to Drendia Howell on May 5, 2001. He retired from the United States Army Sergeant First Class. Continuing his government service he worked with the V.A. hospital in Little Rock, Ark. In 2009 he became associated with the National Cemetery Association where he started his Journey to become a National Cemetery director in St. Louis, Mo. He assisted the director of the Long Island National Cemetery. He then traveled to Nebraska to Fort McPherson National Cemetery to be the director. He then was assigned to Eagle Point and Roseburg National Cemetery located in Oregon. He then was assigned the Fayetteville National Cemetery. During this time he also worked as a acting director for the National Cemetery. Ted is survived by his wife, Drendia Travers, of Fayetteville; his five children, James Travers of Louisville, Ky., Michael Travers of Louisville, Ky., DeAngela (Brian) Halpaine of Paron, Ark., Kyle Williams of Pennsylvania, Kayle Williams of New York; his parents, Karen (Dale) Burkhart of Cedarville, Ark., Doug (Debra) Pearson of Van Buren; his brother, Doug (Amy) Pearson of Van Buren, Ark.; his sister, Laurie Bagget of Greenwood, Ark. He is also survived by four grandchildren and many other family and friends and his dog, Rusty. You will be greatly missed. "Rangers lead the way, Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger." Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 at Lewis-Roberts Funeral Chapel, 4817 Kelley Hwy. Fort Smith, Ark., with interment with full Military Honors at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark.
