Billy Joe Travis Sr., 62, passed away Sunday, August 31. He was preceded in death by father, Billy Gean Travis. Born in Lonoke, Billy Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1971-1975. While stationed in Fort Clayton, Panama, he met his wife of 42 years, Francisca.
He is survived by his wife and his three children: Billy Joe Travis Jr., Frances Travis and Joseph Travis; six grandchildren: Maurice Jr., Malik, Masir and Maneline Beard, Billy Joe III and India Travis, his mother, Ida Faye Travis and his brothers, Jerry, Terry and Jimmy Travis and sister, Cynthia Bailey. He was blessed and loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, in-law's Maurice Beard, Jennifer Rose and by his faithful dog, Odie. Billy Joe was a simple, hardworking man who believed in God and touched a lot of people's hearts. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock on Friday, September 5 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 am in the chapel. Please sign on-line registry at www.griffinleggettresthills.com.
