John Martin Van Hoose, age 77, of Little Rock, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014. He was born January 25, 1937 in Thealka, Kentucky. Mr. Van Hoose graduated from Paintsville High School in Kentucky in 1954. He retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant after 27 years and later went on to retire from the Air Force Reserves. Also, he retired from Lucent Technology after 23 years. Mr. Van Hoose was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Proctor and Hazel Van Hoose; wife, Joyce Annette Van Hoose; son, John Martin Van Hoose and a brother, Phillip Roger Van Hoose. He is survived by his son, Ricky Van Hoose of Benton; daughter, Barbara Jean Bathe of Michigan; two brothers, James Van Hoose (Ernestine) and Larry Gene Van Hoose (Patty); sister, Janie Harlow all of Paintsville, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Stephanie Pryor (Kyle) of Benton and Ricky Chase Van Hoose (Jessica) of Bryant; three great-grandchildren, Kolby & Carson Pryor and Harper Van Hoose; sister-in-law, Vernette Grizzelle (Scott) and six special nieces and nephews, Vicki Skaggs, Carol Vallance, Angela Davidson, Ted & Cindy Grizzelle and Tracy Grizzelle. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 8 at Ashby Funeral Home. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 9 at Sardis United Methodist Church with burial at Arkansas Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
