Rose Rossi Highfill, 97, of Little Rock passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014. She was born August 6, 1917 in St. Vincent, Arkansas to Aloys and Clara Gottsponer. She was a member of Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church, the Seniors Group and Stephen's Ministry at the church. She was also a member of the Butler Sunday School at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church and volunteered at St. Vincent Infirmary. Rose was a member and past officer of AARP chapter 3053 and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She is survived by her son, Andrew Rossi (Janet); three daughters, Cornelia Rossi and Andrea Rossi Meurer (Carl) all of Little Rock and Mary Rossi Hiatt (John) of Memphis, Tennessee; two sisters, Elizabeth Gottsponer Kaufman, of Fayetteville and Christine Gottsponer Holzem, of King City, Oregon; one stepson, John Highfill (Babs) of Charlotte, North Carolina; thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Robert Rossi and J. Virgil Highfill; son, Robert L. Rossi; one brother and four sisters. Our mother was a strong and gracious lady who counseled and comforted many relatives and friends throughout her life. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church, 1003 North Tyler St., Little Rock, Arkansas 72205 or Alzheimer's Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205. A visitation will be held 6:30 p.m., Monday, followed by a rosary service at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, at the church.
