James Dennis Sorrell Jr.

James Dennis Sorrell Jr., 66, of West Memphis, Arkansas passed away at his home on Sunday, September 7, 2014. Mr. Sorrell received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Arkansas. He owned and operated Sorrell Consulting Engineers and was a registered Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor in both Tennessee and Arkansas for 45 years and was very devoted to his work. He was an active member of the West Memphis Chamber of Commerce for 25 years and was a very devoted father, grandfather and avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan. Mr. Sorrell was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Sorrell Sr. Survivors include his mother, Lucille Steen of West Memphis; a daughter, Jenni Daniels (Jimmy) of Marion, Ark.; a grandson, James Bentley Daniels; three sisters: Gail Mayfield (Dale) of Brighton, Tenn., Susan Marconi (Charles) of Crawfordsville, Ark. and Nancy Wood (Rick) of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers: Phillip Sorrell (Susanne) and Rick Sorrell both of West Memphis; as well as his ex-wife of 9 years and best friend, Janet Sorrell. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis on Wednesday, September 10, 2014. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Ark.
