Miva Bittle, 94, passed away on September 6, 2014 while surrounded by her family. Miva was born in Higden Arkansas on June 24, 1920 to Lee and Nettie Turney. She was preceded in death by one brother Reedy Turney and a sister Giva Murphree. Miva is survived by her husband, Rizel Bittle, to whom she was married for seventy two years. They have six children Ann Porter (Gene), Kaye Wood (Jim), Larry Bittle (Theresa), Ricky Bittle (Karen), Regina Besancon (Terry), and Benny Bittle (Neillana), 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and two more babies expected shortly. She is also survived by three sisters, Iva Hicks of Paragould Ark., Fay Barnum of St Louis, Mo., and Norma Lee Delap of Portland, Ore., one brother HA Turney of Denton, Texas and her church family at Pleasant Valley church of Christ. At church she was affectionately known as "the hat lady" and served as an unofficial greeter, because each week she stood at the door to give everyone a kiss, or hug or a wink. She will be greatly missed. Miva returned to school after her children were grown where she earned both a BA and a Master degree. She taught at Central Arkansas Christian and Mabelvale elementary. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas (501) 224-8300. Funeral service will be held Wednesday September 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. Graveside service will be held at Arkansas State Veteran Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Avenue, North Little Rock, Arkansas on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. The family would like to thank Joshua Bittle of Cooperative Home Health Service and the caregivers that took care of Miva; Adelyn Carter, LaShay Carter, Alexia Willis, Angelia Kent, Jackee Abdres.
