Joyce Faye Carter, 74, of Crossett, died Sunday, September 7, 2014 at her sister's home in West Crossett. She was born on March 25, 1940 in Holly Springs, Arkansas to Coby and Vestia Mae Jones. Joyce's family described her as a perfectionist and an athlete who enjoyed everything from horseback riding to calligraphy. She was crowned Camden's Rodeo Queen in 1956 and Crossett's Rodeo Queen in 1957. Joyce was also an avid golfer who won the title of Club Champion at the Prairie Country Club 12 times, many of which were consecutive year wins. She graduated Crossett High School in 1958 and worked at Bemis in Crossett for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Brent Carter. She is survived by one daughter, Stacey Kaminski and husband Eugene of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one son, Trent Carter of Little Rock; two sisters, Nancy Tucker and husband Harold of Crossett, and Becky Coody and husband Charlie of Bastrop, La.; two grandsons, Joshua and Timothy Cider; and one granddaughter, Kaitlin Cider. A Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 10th at Jarvis Chapel Baptist Church, 1018 Ashley Rd. 14 N, in West Crossett with Bro. Bill Moore and Bro. Lloyd Gibbs officiating, followed by an interment at Carter Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett. Pallbearers will be Tim Cider, Joshua Cider, Tim Tucker, Kayne Coody, Caleb Coody and Glenn Cider. Honorary Pallbearers will be Morris Herrington, Tucker Carter, Thomas Carter, Bryson Gill, Cole Gill, Trace Tucker, Eugene Kaminski, Chris Gill, Rodney Graves, Todd Carter, Harold Tucker, Charlie Coody and the CHS Class of 1958. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 9th at Jarvis Chapel Baptist Church.
