Kathleen Elizabeth Doss

Kathleen Elizabeth Doss, 85, has rejoined loved ones in God's kingdom of heaven. Kathleen died peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2014 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. with her children by her side. Kathleen was a long time resident of Crossett, and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was a small town Christian, with a big smile and a big heart. She was comforted by the love and care of her family during her most recent days here on earth, sharing memories, encouragement, and plenty of laughs and smiles. Kathleen was born on November 21, 1928, the only child, to loving parents, James Augusta " Pops" and Beatrice Bula Doss. Quite the beauty, she caught the eye of V.G. Doss, who became her best friend and husband. They had five children together, making the role of "Mom" her most cherished job. In addition, she worked in the shirt factory, and fried chicken at a local gas station in her younger years. Kathleen loved to cook, knit, quilt and shop! She was a social butterfly, meeting close friends every Saturday afternoon at a local restaurant for ice cream, and chit chat, and was loved by everyone who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband,V.G. Doss. She is survived by five children; James Doss and wife Susan of Grenada, Miss., Ann Nutter and husband Jimmy of Crossett, Curtis Doss of Crossett, Julie Kay Trevino and husband John of Maumelle, Ark., and John Lee Doss of North Little Rock, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, Gordon Doss and wife Sara of Grenada, Miss., Matthew Goodwin and wife Misty of Cabot, Ark., Jason Goodwin and wife Brandy of Morrilton, Ark.; Marc Doss and wife Stacey of Olive Branch, Miss., Laura and husband Wesley of Plumerville, Ark., Allison Doss of Grenada, Miss.; Heather Adkins and husband Chris of Crossett, Lindsey Murphy and husband Jonathon of Santa Maria, Calif., Hayden Riles and husband Nay of Monroe, La., Adrienne Doss of Little Rock, Ark., and Matthew Trevino of Maumelle, Ark. She was also blessed with 17 great grandchildren: Katie, Colby, Carsen, Jordon, Matthew (Boo), Nick, Lilliann, Karman, Allie, Garrett, Sydney, Anna Beth, Doss, Jay Jay, Chloe, Lily and Abby. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, September 9th, from 6-8 p.m. at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy. 52 W, Crossett, Ark. A Funeral service to honor Kathleen will be held Wednesday, September 10th at 3 p.m at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1533 Hwy. 52 W in Crossett with Pastors Eric Hodge and David Tohlen officiating. A burial will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be: Matthew Goodwin, Jason Goodwin, Marc Doss, Gordon Doss, Wesley O'Neal, Nay Riles, and Chris Adkins. Honorary pallbearers will be her dear friends: Louise Brady, Jessie Farmer, Margie Gardner, Edra Young and Betty Mitchell.
