Mary Eva Walker Mathis

Mary Eva Walker Mathis, age 90, died in Grapevine, Texas on August 29, 2014. She was born May 21, 1924 in Alicia, Arkansas. On February 14, 1943 she married Jim Mathis. They were happily married 54 years. Mary lived most of her life in Little Rock, Arkansas where she worked for Olin Chemicals. She was an active member of Mabelvale United Methodist Church and many clubs and organizations. She was most proud of the Order of Hannah recognition she received from Mabelvale UMC. Survivors include daughter, Jimmie Ann and husband Jimmy Dale Victory, grandson Jay Victory, wife Cindy, and children Preston, Alexis and Austin, granddaughter Jody Mills, husband Scott, and children, Greyson and Carson, sister, Eunice Cheatham and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Kirk and Ollie Bell Walker, husband, Jim Mathis, siblings, Emily Sullivan, William Walker and Kirk Walker Jr. Service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, September 12, 2014 at Mabelvale United Methodist Church, 10500 Woodman, Mabelvale, Arkansas 72103. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 7401 Highway 5N, Alexander, Arkansas 72002 following the service. Visitation will be held at the church one hour before the service.
