Valerian Alexander Summerville

A Service of Triumph will be held for the late Mrs. Valerian Alexander Summerville, born November 17, 1946 in Marvell (Sandtuck), Arkansas. She was born to the union of Rev. Freddie Louis Alexander and Mattie Lee Hull Alexander of Marvell, Arkansas and McCool, Mississippi. There were 10 children born to this union. Mrs. Summerville attended the 1st-12th grades in North Little Rock, Arkansas where she graduated Salutatorian in the Class of 1964 at Harris High School. She also attended Arkansas AM&N College. Valerian Alexander married Willie T. Summerville of Crossett, Arkansas on September 9, 1966 at Gospel Temple Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, where her father was the former pastor. Mrs. Summerville leaves to mourn three children: Derrick Arnett (Roslyn) of Atlanta, Ga.; Shandra Alexander of Urbana, and William Moses (Danielle) of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A musical tribute concert will be held on Sunday, September 14th at 7 p.m. with the visitation hour from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Celebration of Life services will be held on Monday, September 15th at 12 noon. Both services will be held at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 808 E. Bradley Avenue in Champaign, Illinois. Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana, Ill.
