Carl Jackson Sr., age 68, died at St. Vincent's Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark., on Friday, September 12, 2014, at 12:08 p.m. Born June 4, 1946, in Jefferson Springs, Arkansas, he settled in Little Rock after graduating from J.S. Walker High School. He worked as a long term employee of Head Start for 21 years. Later with Safeway grocery stores. He retired with 10 years of service at the Pulaski County Detention Center, where he was affectionately called "Papa Jack", until retiring. Carl received his call to join his parents, and sisters; Sammie Lee Harris and Nellie Deloris Edwards, on September 12, 2014. Although his death was unexpected, he engaged life to the fullest. Carl leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted and loving wife of 46 years, Georgia Jackson; two daughters, Kimbra Qureshi of Norfolk, Virginia, Carlita (CeJay) Moore of Little Rock, Arkansas; one son, Carl J. Jackson, Jr. (Lakiya) currently stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base, located in Montgomery, Alabama; sister, Claudia Edwards, Toledo, Ohio; eight grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services will be held at on 10 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2014 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th St, Little Rock. Burial will be held at Elmlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome and reception immediately following at Moody Chapel AME Church Dining Hall, 5630 Mabelvale Pike, Little Rock, AR 72209 from 1p.m. to 3 p.m. Memorial contributions are welcome and should be mailed to 5409 Halifax Drive, Little Rock, Ark. 72209.
