Margaret Ruth Stevens

Margaret Ruth Stevens, 88 of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014, at her home. She was born August 21, 1926, at Deschutes Hospital in Bend, Oregon, a daughter of Fred and Margaret Berg. Mrs. Stevens co-owned Pine Bluff Hearing Aid Center with her daughter, Beverly. Margaret and her husband, State Representative Jim Stevens started the business over 50 years ago. While he was in session, she took care of the business and four children. Margaret worked in any organization her children were involved in, Brownie and Cub Scouts, Little League team mother and Secretary of the PTA at Edgewood Elementary School. Her family attended church at Matthews Memorial Baptist Church. She later was a member of Dot Trull's Sunday School Class at Watson Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, whom she married on August 11, 1944, at Tacoma, Washington. Margaret and Jim met in her church in Bend, Oregon. They were married 54 years when he passed away. Also preceded in death were her sister, Betty Noel of Madison. Alabama, her brother, Robert L. Berg of Oakville, Washington and her parents. Her survivors include three sons, James O. Stevens, Jr. (Judy) of Denton, Texas, Ronald E. Stevens of Little Rock, Robert Stevens (Debbie) of Pine Bluff; a daughter Beverly Stevens of Pine Bluff; four grandchildren, Jessica, Ben, Mike, Jennifer; two great-grandchildren, Nicole, Christian; brother, Bill Berg of Salinas, California and a sister, Jeannie Moffitt of Pasco, Washington. A special Thanks to the caretakers, Dr. James Lindsey and Hospice Home Care. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at Robinson's. Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014, Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Todd Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, near Sheridan.
