Charles Roland Bearden

Charles Roland Bearden, an inspiring example for living a Christ-centered life, passed away at age 79 on September 24, 2014 at Ouachita County Medical Center. Charles was born May 23, 1935 in Chidester, Ark., to the late Jeter and Edna (Brodnax) Bearden and lived in Camden, Ark., most of his life. Charles' first love in life was his beautiful bride of almost 62 years, Lena Belle Inzer. He served the Camden Cumberland Presbyterian Church as the choir director, elder and in many ministry positions throughout his life. He loved to spend time with family and friends, especially while working in church programs. An avid fisherman, Charles spent his pastime on favorite area rivers and lakes. He worked in sales at Mosley Candy & Tobacco Co for most of his career and made friends throughout south Arkansas. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Louise Bearden; brother, Homer Ray Bearden; and brother, Robert Bearden. Charles is survived by his wife, Lena; daughter, Katherine Bearden of Hialeah, Fla.; son, Michael Bearden of Arkadelphia, Ark.; daughter, Teresa (Allen) Stowinsky of San Diego, Calif.; daughter, Jennifer (Todd) Morisato of Southlake, Texas; five grandchildren, Jessica Bearden, Mary Thomas, Janet Haines, Lea Morisato and Mikaela Morisato; and three great-grandchildren, Dominick Pompee, Kaitlyn Stowinsky and Nathaniel Haines. Charles also is survived by one sister, Martha Ann Scharbor; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of Charles' life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Camden Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1545 California Ave. SW, with Rev. Garland Skidmore, Dr. Michael Suttle and Rev. Kenneth Treadaway officiating. Burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 27 at Proctor Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Camden Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
