Lucille Wanamaker Cook, 94, of North Little Rock peacefully passed away September 24, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John Kelley Cook, Jr., and a brother, Joe (Uncle Dee) Wanamaker. She is survived by her sister, Marcie Ball of Oklahoma City, three sons, John K. Cook III, of The Woodlands, Texas; Joe D. Cook and his wife, Marilyn, of North Little Rock; and Jeffrey W. Cook of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren, Joe Cook Jr. (Michelle) of Hope Mills, N.C.; Gary Boyer (Robyn) of Bella Vista: James Scott Cook (Charis) of Little Rock; and Steven Cook (Becky) of Little Rock; Nick Catechis (Emily) of The Woodlands, Texas; and Chris Catechis (Jennifer) of Albuquerque, N.M.; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was born in Lima, Ohio to Joe A. and Octavia Adams Wanamaker on April 24, 1920. She graduated from Central High School in 1936 and Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA) in 1940. She married the love of her life, John Kelley Cook, in 1942. She devoted herself to raising her family then in 1965 began a teaching career teaching briefly at Park Hill Elementary School then moving to North Little Rock High School (Ole Main) to teach English for many years. She was an active member of Park Hill Presbyterian Church as well as other civic organizations. She loved to travel with John Kelley and has numerous photo albums filled with memories of places they visited. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Fox Ridge in North Little Rock. The care they provided during her last days was sincere, heartfelt, and touching in every respect. They treated her with dignity, respect, and like a member of their own family. Visitation will be Friday, September 26, from 5-7 p.m. at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK Blvd, NLR, Ark. The funeral will be Saturday, September 27, 11 a.m. Park Hill Presbyterian Church, 3520 JFK Blvd., NLR, with interment at Roselawn Cemetery.
