MYRTLE LEWIS, 91, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 26, 2015. She was the youngest of 10 children born to Reverend Peter and Mrs. Callie Counts on June 12, 1924 in Hot Springs, Ark. She was a loving wife and mother to her own children, as well as a spiritual mother to many. She was fondly known as the "lady with ten thousand kids". Mother Lewis was a dedicated member of the Holy Cross Baptist Church for more than 65 years. She loved gospel music, began singing in church at the age of four, and continued to be a choir member for her entire life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earner Lewis and daughter, Barbara Anderson. She is survived by two daughters, Rose Lewis of Little Rock and May Henderson of Oakland, Calif.; one son, Earner Lewis, Jr. of Los Angles, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, seven great-great children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her life will be celebrated at Holy Cross Baptist Church, 4800 West 12th Street, Little Rock on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be at Premier Funeral Home, 1518 South Battery Street, Little Rock on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015 from 6-7 p.m.
