Charles W. Underwood, age 88, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 in Conway, Ark. He was born on April 8, 1926 in Piggott, Ark. to Jimmy and Ethel Cox Underwood, the 5th of 10 children. He served in World War II in the Army Air Force and was one of 5 brothers in various branches of service at the same time. He returned from the war, completed high school, and began working in the lumber and building materials industry. He finished his career as facilities supervisor of Southwind Church of Christ in Memphis, Tenn. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 53 years Joyce Harmon Underwood; his son Steve Underwood; his siblings, Jimmy Gene Underwood, Leon Underwood, Etheridge Underwood, and his sister Mary Schnaak. He is survived by his son, Chuck Underwood and his wife Dianne of White House, Tenn.; his daughter, Nancy Holder and her husband John of Conway, Ark.; his granddaughter, Katie Poe and her husband Bryan of Little Rock, Ark; his grandson, Rob Holder and his wife Jenny of Alexandria, La.; and his great-grandson, John Holder of Alexandria, La. Surviving siblings are Herschel Underwood, Gerald Underwood, Jan Lea Mann, Betty Cash, and Larry Underwood. Visitation will be at noon, Feb. 4, 2015 at Hoggard Funeral Home in Piggott, Ark. with funeral service immediately following.
