Marjorie Ethridge Jones Burns, 98, of Arkadelphia, Ark., formerly of Jackson and Clarksdale, Mississippi, passed away on February 4th in Arkadelphia. She was born December 23, 1916, in Schlater, Mississippi to Annie Nichols and William Emmett Ethridge. She was preceded in death by husbands, John Paul Jones and William Leon Burns, her parents, four sisters, two brothers and her grandson, Jack Wade Russell. Marjorie was a graduate of Schlater Mississippi High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Couch Lumber Company and Mississippi Supply Company, both located in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She also served as bookkeeper for Hankins Air Service in Jackson, Mississippi and was the owner of The Villager dress shop in Jackson. She was a lifelong Baptist and member of Parkway Baptist Church in Jackson. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and playing dominos. She is survived by three daughters and their spouses; Marjorie and Tom Crosby of Canton, Texas, Eva and Jesse Russell of Jackson, Mississippi and Johnnie and Tommy Roebuck of Arkadelphia; her grandchildren, Susan Radtke (Mike) Arnow of Seattle, Washington, Stephanie Radtke (Steve) Farrell of Glencoe, California, Jeffrey (Amy) Sheeler of Little Rock, Arkansas, Renee Russell (Leslie) Killibrew, Rosanne Russell (Alton) Courtney, John (Theresa) Russell and Kathy Russell all of Jackson, Mississippi and Jason Sheeler of New York, New York; as well as 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Private graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, Mississippi with Brother James Calhoun officiating. Pallbearers are her sons-in law and grandsons John Russell, Jeff Sheeler and Jason Sheeler. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the McNutt Cemetery Fund, P.O. 324, Schlater, Miss. 38952.
