On the morning of Thursday, January 29, 2015, Presiding Elder Thomas Gene Allen transitioned from earth to glory at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jessie Lee Brentley and brother, Jessie Levon Brentley. Thomas was born to Lottie M. Allen Brentley. He accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at Damascus Baptist Church. When he was called to the ministry, he was united at Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Church under the leadership of Pastor Benjamin Graham. He pastored many churches in both Arkansas and Oklahoma. He was appointed presiding elder in 1997 by Bishop Frederick Talbot. He actively served on all levels of the AME Church. He devoted his life to God's ministry until death. Thomas pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., a member of the NAACP organization, and a member of the Prince Hall Masonic Order where he earned the title of 33rd Degree Mason. He served as a worthy patron in the Order of the Eastern Stars. Presiding Elder Thomas G. Allen leaves to cherish his loving memories and legacy, his devoted wife, Aline Clegg Allen; one loving daughter – Dr. Nedra R. Allen of Little Rock, Arkansas; mother, Lottie Allen Brentley of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; one step-brother – Thornton James (Rita) Brantley of Chicago, Illinois; five sisters – Dr. Mary Brentley and Sandra Brentley of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Katherine Brentley of Oakland, California, Vanessa Williams and Janetta (Calvin) Booker of Atlanta, Georgia; grandson – Jaylen Sims. His services will be Saturday, February 7, 2015 at St. John A.M.E. Church with Bishop Samuel L. Green Sr. officiating at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Forrest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday at Mt. Pleasant AME Church between the hours of 6:30-8 p.m. The body will line in state from 9:15 a.m. until time of service.
