Roselyn Frederick

Roselyn Donaldson Frederick, age 97, in the fullness of her time on earth, moved to her eternal home on February 2, 2015. She joined Highland Methodist Church in Little Rock (now Highland Valley United Methodist Church) in 1927 when she was 10 years old, and she remained a faithful member until her death. She was an active member of the Faith Sunday School Class and of United Methodist Women. In November, 2010 she relocated to Tyler, Texas to be near her son, grandsons, and their families. In Tyler she affiliated with Marvin United Methodist Church, and was active in the women's Century class. Roselyn's and her late husband's (Bernard) favorite volunteer activities were working with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and serving as teachers and counselors in the church's youth program, which they did for many years. Roselyn was a life-long resident of Little Rock and a graduate of Little Rock Senior High School. She worked for several years in the office of Temple Cotton Oil Mill. Following that position, she was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker until her children were both in college. She then worked for the Arkansas State Employment Security Division until her retirement. Roselyn was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bernard Frederick; her daughter, Lynda Frederick, of Stuttgart, Arkansas; her parents, John H. Donaldson Sr. and Mary Krementz Donaldson of Little Rock; her brother, Tom Donaldson and his wife, Marie, of Jonesboro, Arkansas; her brother, Fenton Donaldson and his wife, Mary, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; her brother John Donaldson and his wife, Jane, three brothers, Robert, Charles and Harry Donaldson, and three sisters, Gertrude and Elizabeth Donaldson and Mary Mease, all of Little Rock. She is survived by one son, Gary Frederick and his wife, Judy, of Tyler, Texas; two grandsons, Michael Frederick and his wife Kellie of Richardson, Texas and Dr. Robert Frederick and his wife Jamie, of Tyler, Texas; four grandsons, Benjamin and Jack Wade Frederick of Richardson, Texas and Haddon, Caleb Bernard Frederick of Tyler, Texas and three granddaughters Sarah Frederick of Tyler, Texas and Mikaela and Genevieve Mowell of Richardson, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, February 6 at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Funeral Home, 5800 West 12th Street in Little Rock. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, at the Highland Valley United Methodist Church, 15524 Chenal Parkway in Little Rock. Burial will be immediately following the funeral service at the Pinecrest Cemetery off Stagecoach Road southwest of Little Rock. Before her death, Roselyn requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory be made to any of the following organizations: Highland Valley United Methodist Church in Little Rock, Heifer International, or Habitat for Humanity.
