Evelyn Gilbert

Evelyn Gilbert departed this world on February 5, 2015 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Place of death was Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born on April 27, 1935 to Clinton and Ethel Neeley in San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Leah Rogers and Gracie Meredith, both of Westville, Oklahoma. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, April Gilbert of Ozark, Arkansas. She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Joel Gilbert of the home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas; a sister, Bobbie Heatwole of Augusta, Kansas; a brother, Duane Neeley of Westville, Oklahoma; two sons, Harold Lloyd Cobb and wife Diane of Little Rock, Arkansas and Jim Gilbert of Huntsville, Arkansas; four daughters, Karen and husband Gary Hill of Springdale, Arkansas, Sheila Edwards of Alma, Arkansas, Cathy Cobb Mast and husband Mike Mast of Fayetteville, Arkansas and DeAnn and husband Buddy Hatch of Rogers, Arkansas. She leaves behind ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved. Additional survivors include brothers and sister-in-law, Bill and Sharon Gilbert of Dyer, Arkansas and Pat Gilbert of Ozark, Arkansas and Mel B. Williams of Altus, Arkansas. Her passing also saddened the hearts of cousins, nieces, nephews and an entire congregation of friends and acquaintances, many of which were formed by her involvement that evolved during her enormous faith and dedication to her heavenly father Jesus Christ. She always had a laugh and a smile for everyone she met. And not to leave anyone out, her lovable pet Pomeranian "Gizmo" is also left behind. She spent the latter years of her life dealing with illness, however in the Bible, Peter said "after you have suffered a little while, God will restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast again." She is now strong, firm and steadfast. The family will meet with family and friends at Moore's Chapel from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2015. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Monday at Ridgeview Baptist Church, 1850 East Huntsville Rd., Fayetteville, Arkansas. The service will be officiated by Reverend Albert Gebauer. Her written testament to her Lord will be read by Reverend Charlie Brown. Burial will be in Fayetteville National Cemetery, under the direction of Moore's Chapel. Pallbearers are Jeremy Porter, Josh Gilbert, Bennett Cobb, Gary Hill and Dustin and Shawn Shipp. Honorary pallbearers are Rylee Polston, Jared Gilbert and Parker Cobb.
