Luther Carlon Mason

Luther Carlon Mason, 85, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015. He was born July 15, 1929 in Velvet Ridge the son of the late Everett and Mary (Stanley) Mason. He was a carpenter, farmer and lifetime member of the Velvet Ridge Church of God. Luther was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He would lend a helping hand to anyone at anytime. He was very talkative and never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sue (Walls) Mason; his children, Mary Lee LaMontagne of Finton, Mo., Carlon Mason (Pam) of Deer Park, Texas, Freddie Varnell (Dobber), Brenda Harris (Sam), and Betty Varner (Jim) all of Bald Knob; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Mason; two sisters, Martha Humes and Wilma Dorton; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Terry Denise Mason and two sons, Dennis and Darren Mason; three brothers, Jack, Jimmie, and Marvin Mason and two sisters, Elveda Barnett and Iris Cox. Visitation will be held Saturday from 5-7 p.m. Services will be conducted Sunday, February 8, 2015, 2 p.m. at the Velvet Ridge Church of God with Bro. Doug Swindle and Bro. Tim Corley officiating. Interment will follow in Velvet Ridge Cemetery by Powell Funeral Home Bald Knob-Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
