Our beloved Aunt ESTHER LEE MCKNIGHT passed peacefully on Jan. 22, 2015 at the age of 96. One of six children, she was born on April 11, 1918 in Texarkana, Ark. to John and Frances McKnight. She graduated from North Heights High School in 1936 in Texarkansas and registered in the Nursing Program at Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston, Texas at the beginning of World War II. She lived and worked in the Houston area until 2006 when she relocated to the North Little Rock area to be closer to family. Her hobbies included sewing, bird-watching, writing and reading. She lived independently until she fell ill in the fall of 2014. Although she had no children of her own, she is survived by her beloved niece, Thelma (John) Ciasca of North Little Rock; four nephews, William (Susan) Miller of New Bloomfield, Mo., Larry (Irene) Miller of Henryville, Pa., Richard (Ann) Miller of Bella Vista, Ark. and Ted (Gloria) Miller of Haughton, La. and special friend, Diane White of Lincoln, Neb. She is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews as well as numerous great-great-nieces and nephews throughout the country. Her words of wisdom about life and family will not be forgotten. A private memorial service for the family will be on April 11. We would like to send a special thank you to the nursing staff at Sherwood Nursing and Rehab Center. The loving care and attention given to Aunt Lee in her final weeks was greatly appreciated.
