Helen Thompson

Helen Thompson, age 94, of Arkadelphia, Ark. passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015. She was born May 30, 1920 in Clark County the daughter of Jay and Maggie Shaw Buck. She was a lifelong resident of Clark County until her move to Texarkana, Ark. She lived at Cowhorn Creek Estates independent living facility. She was a member of Moores Lane Baptist Church, where she attended Sunday School and Bible Study every week. In Arkadelphia, she was a member of Second Baptist Church. She was owner, with her deceased husband, of Thompson Builders Inc. for 46 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Clarence Thompson; one son, Donald Wayne Thompson; one granddaughter, Ginger Adair; her parents and step-father, Fred Cates. Survivors include one daughter, Diane Wingfield and her husband, W. A. "Dub" Wingfield of Texarkana, Ark.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dottie Tankersley and husband, Odell of Laguna, Calif. and Freddie Windell and husband, Sam of Hot Springs; one brother-in-law, Clay Pate and wife, Elizabeth, also of Hot Springs. A celebration of her life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11 at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Arkadelphia. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
