Mary Elizabeth Guest was born on Merrell Mountain in Alabama on May 29, 1928, next to the last of eleven children, to Robert Merrell and Gracie Holt Merrell. After moving to Napa, California, in 2005, she passed away on February 8, 2015, after a long illness. Mary worked at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, during WWII where she met her husband of 55 years, V. P. Guest, who passed away in 2002. They had two daughters: Sharon Hrinda of Cabot, Arkansas, and Paula Avery of Napa, California; two grandchildren: Kip Houghton and Ashley Trevino; two great-grandchildren: Julia Trevino and Celina Trevino. Mary was a highly motivated, hard worker, who achieved much. She retired at age 62 from North Little Rock N.O. Nelson Company where she was the office manager. She and her husband built their dream home on 17 acres in Cabot, Arkansas, where she spent her days gardening. She and V.P. grew wonderful vegetables and shared the overflow by taking trunk loads to church every Sabbath to share with all. They also shared with local nursing homes. Mary was an active member of the Little Rock Seventh-day Adventist Church for over 50 years. She held several church offices, but her "gift" was entertaining. She hosted many church events to the delight of all. Those who knew Mary will miss her quick wit and sparkling personality. Graveside Service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery, Alexander, Arkansas, at 2 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2015. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA.com).
