Jim G. McGaha, age 85, of Cabot passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015. He was born on Nov. 3, 1929 in Greenbrier, Arkansas to the late William and Sarah Sue Grisham McGaha. Mr. McGaha served in the United States Army as an Infantryman in the 1st Calvary Divison during the Korean War. Mr. McGaha was captured during his service and was a held as a prisoner of war. He was fortunate enough to make a brave escape and make it back to his fellow American troops, where he resumed fighting. After his return home, he served as a Department of Transportation police officer for the state of Arkansas. Mr. McGaha was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Frances Prothro Noggle McGaha; one son, Lanny Noggle of Conway; two daughters, Sheila VanFossen and Teresa Lassett, both of Cabot; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Peachie Hickman of Springfield, Mo. and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015 in the Chapel of Roller-Owens Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery.
