Lloyd E. Lindsey, 85, of Camden, Ark. died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015. He was born May 16, 1929 in Bearden, Ark. to Everett and Carrie Hopkins Lindsey. He was a devoted husband, father and Christian. He served in the United States Navy from 1946-1947. He graduated from Camden High School in 1949 and graduated from Louisiana Tech University, magna cum laude in 1952 with a B.S. in accounting. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. He was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in 1953. Mr. Lindsey was majority owner and president of Ouachita Valley Dairy and was a commercial real estate investor and developer including Garden Oaks Shopping Center in Camden. He was active in many civic and political activities and associations. He was a past president of the Ouachita County Boys and Girls Club, Camden Lions Club Man of the Year in 1990, member of the Arkansas Development Finance Authority (ADFA) from 1998-2007 and chairman from 2004-2005 and former treasurer of the Arkansas Republican Party. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Camden. Mr. Lindsey was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Frances Freeland and a grandson, Wendell Efird. He is survived by his wife, Cornelia Pryor Lindsey of Camden; son, L. E. Lindsey and wife, Ruth Ellen of Camden; daughter, Susan Efird and husband, Bruce of Mena, Ark.; son, Paul Lindsey and wife, Debbie of Camden; son, Pryor Lindsey and wife, Dawn of Houston, Texas; daughter, Mary Ellen Dooley and husband, Jay of DeQueen, Ark.; a sister, Helen Lindsey Urrey and husband, Tom of Fort Worth, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Camden, with Dr. Richard Piles officiating. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center of the church immediately following the service. There will be a committal service at Memorial Park Cemetery after the conclusion of the reception. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or the Ouachita County Boys and Girls Club.
