MARJORIE RUSSELL DUNCAN was born Aug. 20, 1917 in Fordyce, Ark. to Henry and Ella Russell of Fordyce. Marjorie attended Fordyce High School and where she was a 'Red Bug' cheerleader for the highly successful football team at that time. She regularly attended First Methodist Church, where she was a choir member and soloist. On March 5, 1938, Marjorie became the wife of Fred C. Duncan of Fordyce. One month before the couple were to celebrate their 26th wedding anniversary, Fred died of a sudden heart attack at the age of 48. Also preceding Marjorie in death was her beloved son, Freddy Duncan Jr., who died of Hodgkin's disease at the age of 30 in 1973. In addition to her parents, Henry and Ella Russell, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond, Harry, Jack and Robert and sister, Louise. She is survived by her daughter, Deena Duncan Culberson and husband, David M. Culberson of Mayflower and two grandsons, David J. Culberson (Kayla) of Mayflower and Will F. Culberson (Christin) of Hot Springs, Ark. and Freddy's wife of eight years, Dianne Rail of Little Rock. Four great-granddaughters, Kynlee Elaine, Micalah Hope, Karlee Grace and Anna Faith survive her also. A sister, Frances Jordan of Camden, Ark. also survives Marjorie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Marjorie was very involved in church work wherever, Florida, Georgia or Arkansas. She also loved to play bridge with her friends. She has been a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church for over 43 years and was a long time member of the United Methodist Women and the Eleanor Gray Sunday School Class. Marjorie retired from Arkansas Employment Security Division after 14 years of service. She was a big fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks. The family would like to thank the staff at Elmcroft Assisted Living in Maumelle and the staff from Gentiva Hospice for their care and friendship. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 6401 W. 32nd St. Little Rock, AR 72204 or Gentiva Hospice, 1004 Van Ronkle Conway, AR 72032. Visitation will be held at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18. The funeral service will be following at 10 a.m. and will be officiated by Pastor Emeritus Calvin Mitchell. Burial service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Fordyce, Ark. at 2 p.m. Pallbearers are Rick Gore, David Jordan, Buddy Jordan, Jack Jordan, Johnny Jordan and Jim Rippy. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Jordan, Virgle E. Lyons Jr., Richard Rail, and Charles Raymond Russell.
