Robert "Martin" Hanna, 79, of Hot Springs Village passed away quietly at St. Vincent's Hospital on Feb. 9, 2015, after a long and happy life. He was born Feb. 12, 1935 in Winfield, Kan., where he met Janice, his life-long sweetheart. After graduating NROTC from the University of Kansas with a mechanical engineering degree in 1958, he served in the U.S. Navy, where he obtained a master's in computer science and retired as a Commander after 20 years of service. He then worked as a corporate executive in computer data systems for 14 years until retiring in 1993 and moving to Hot Springs Village, where he remained until his death. He actively served on the board of the Village Community Foundation, the board of the Symphony Guild, as chairman of research and special projects committee of the POA and was a very active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Faith Martin Hanna and his sister, Josephine Anne Hanna of Winfield, Kan. and by a granddaughter, Jessica Faith Hanna of Fountain Lake. He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Jan; his son, Jeffrey Martin Hanna and wife, Toni and grandson, Jackson of Fountain Lake; his daughter, Julia Hanna Smith and husband, David and granddaughter, Alexandra Hanna Usry of Spring, Texas and a step-granddaughter, Kristen Usry Barr of Dallas, Texas. A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Hot Springs Village at 11 a.m. on Feb. 16, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Holy Trinity Endowment Fund.
