Hiram William Davidson Sr. died Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Springhill Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock following a long battle with cancer. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Martha Lou (Maxey) Davidson, daughter, Connie Wood ( Lonnie) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, son, Hiram William (Butch) Davidson Jr. (Brenda) of Cabot, daughter, Susan Elkins (Gregg) of Wellington, Kansas, daughter Kristina (Tina) Gill (Jeff) of Little Rock, grandson Jason Wood (Lori) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Melanie Schemonia (Travis)of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Blake Davidson of North Little Rock, Trey Stricklin (Monica) of Clearwater, Kansas, one sister Jean Dubose of Baker, Florida, step -grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was born one of 13 children December 15, 1930 in Falco, Alabama to Charlie and Susie (Bradley) Davidson. He was predeceased by his mother, father, 8 brothers and 3 sisters. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 in 1947. He fought in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He received numerous commendations and medals including the bronze star for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces in Vietnam. He retired from the Army in 1974 at the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He joined the Arkansas National Guard Professional Education Center at Camp Robinson in 1975. He worked as maintenance supervisor until 1993. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Ingalls Deer Club in south Arkansas. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family having big family fish fries where he made his famous hushpuppies, spending weekends with his family at Lake Hamilton and making special memories for his grandchildren. Even though he's gone to a better place he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Funeral service will be Friday, February 20, at 10 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock.
