Robert Bruce Wright, a resident of the East End community and member of Springlake Church of the Nazarene, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at the age of 80. Bob was born on November 4, 1934 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Bruce and Dorothy Wright. He graduated from North Little Rock's Ole Main High School in 1953, where he was drum major of the Wildcat Marching Band. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Bache. Bob then attended and graduated from Arkansas Tech College in Russellville, where he met Virginia Rankin. Bob and Virginia were married on September 8, 1961 and later adopted two children Richard and Karen (Kaytee). Bob and Virginia celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2011, one year prior to Virginia's passing. Bob's accomplishments were many through the years including, earning double masters' degrees in education, enlisting in the United States Army Reserve, serving with the East End Volunteer Fire Department and Commission, the Southwest Little Rock Kiwanis Club, Little Rock South Lions Club, a 32 degree mason with the Iron Springs Lodge 342, a member of Arkansas Model Railroaders Club and a retired educator with the Little Rock School District. Bob was predeceased by his wife Virginia, parents Bruce and Dorothy Wright, and brother Ben(Mary Lou) Wright. Survivors include daughter Karen (Alan) Leveritt, son Richard Wright, grandchildren, Lila Leveritt, Ethan Leveritt, Brittany Wright,Sarah Wright, Amanda Wright, brother Bill (Linda) Wright, brother in law Terry (Gay) Rankin and a host of nieces and nephews. The Family wishes to acknowledge Dad's friend Garry "Banjo" White, who spent countless hours with Dad the last couple of years, entertaining and comforting him. The family would also like to acknowledge all of the friends, neighbors, church family and caregivers that made Bob and Virginia's lives easier. Visitation will be Thursday February 19 at Springlake Church of the Nazarene beginning at 12:30 p.m. Funeral services immediately will follow at the church beginning at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
