Iva Ada Hicks

Iva Ada Hicks completed her earthly journey on Friday Dec. 2, 2016. She was the daughter of Lee and Nettie Turney. She graduated from Heber Springs High School and the University of Arkansas. She taught school for 32 years. She was a long time resident of Paragould, Ark. She was a member of the 7th and Mueller church of Christ; Charter Member & Golden Sister of Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Teachers Sorority; Endowment Foundation of Greene County; Women of 21st Century Charitable Endowment (WCE); Green County Retired Teachers Association; University of Arkansas Heritage Club; and University of Arkansas Alumni Association. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harold Hicks, her parents, a brother, Reedy Turney and sisters, Giva Murphree, Miva Bittle, and Faye Barnum. She is survived by a brother H.A. Turney (Mickey) of Denton, Texas; a sister Norma Lee DeLap of Portland, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at the 7th & Mueller Church of Christ in Paragould, with Ricky Bittle and Colbert Turney officiating, burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at the White County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Searcy, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the church. No flowers please, Iva believed that flowers are for the living. Iva's request is that the only flowers for her consist of a single rose. To honor her request, please consider lasting memorials instead of flowers.
