Ada Mae Roemer

Ada Mae Burkart Roemer, Prairie Grove, died Tuesday at Willard Walker Hospice House. She was born on June 18, 1929. She went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2016 at the age of 86 years six months and 18 days. Ada was born to Theodore and Lottie Jane Haskins Burkart in Bucklin, Kan. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1947. In 1978, at the age of 49, Ada moved to Fayetteville, Ark. to attend the University of Arkansas where she graduated with a BS in Special Education. She taught Special Ed for 15 years in Prairie Grove Schools. She and her husband Frank Roemer raised four4 children before his death in 1975. Throughout her life, Ada was very active in church. She taught VBS, Sunday school, Cradle Roll and was a speaker for ladies devotions and retreats. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Martha Wilken and one grandson, Josh Roemer. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Connie Costa, Prairie Grove, Ark.; Dan and Karen Lough, Salem, Mo.; Stan and Gina Roemer, Fayetteville, Ark.; Kenny and Jennifer Hemphill, Fayetteville, Ark.; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and many family members and friends. Visitation will be 5 p.m. – 7 p.m, Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Moore's Chapel. Services will be 10 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2016 at Center Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville, conducted by Jack English. Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery, under the direction of Moore's Chapel. The family suggests memorials be made to Southern Christian Children's Home, P.O. Box 649, Morrilton, Ark. 72110. She will be missed by many, many people whose lives she touched and inspired. However, they can be comforted by the knowledge that she is now with her Lord Jesus.
