Sara McCormick, 83, of Crossett, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 6, 2016. She was born in Centerville, Arkansas June 8, 1932 to Roy and Verna McKenzie Eidson. Sara was a member of First Baptist Church of Crossett and a graduate of the Arkansas State Teacher's College, presently known as, UCA, where she attained her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She met and married the love of her life in 1954 and the two moved to Crossett in 1965, where she began her 36 year teaching career teaching First grade math and later Sixth grade. In her free time, she loved to shop, play the piano, work in her flower garden, paint, sew and do various other arts and crafts. Sara was witty and didn't speak a whole lot, but when she did, what she said was always worth listening too. She adored her granddaughters and great granddaughters and her dogs, Tiger, Lily & Brodie. She is preceded in death by her parents; eight sisters, Kitty Miles, Berneice Thompson, Nora Lee Dodson, Polly McDaniel, Virginia Craig, Elsa Rea Maxey, Hilda Gill, and Irene Henry; and three brothers, Harold Eidson, Lafayette Eidson, and Egbert Eidson. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Robert "Jim Bob" McCormick of Crossett; one daughter, Carmen M. Hottinger of Jonesboro; two granddaughters, Heather Elizabeth Hottinger of Dallas, Texas and Savannah Elyse Hottinger of Jonesboro; two great-grandchildren, Anabeth Marie and Piper Lei; and one sister, Irene Henry and husband E.R. of Dumas. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, January 8th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett, Ark. A Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 9th at First Baptist Church of Crossett, 701 Main St. with Pastor Jamie Staley officiating followed by an interment at Lakewood Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett. Pallbearers will be Bobby Richardson, Jack Allen, Jim Knighton, Keith Medders, Scott McCormick, Gary Johnson, Billy Lafoon, & Gayle Deal. Honorary Pallbearers will be the "Joyful Seekers" and Mr. Phil Gilmore's Sunday School class.
