Elverene Barrentine

Elverene Barrentine, 86, passed away on Jan. 8, 2016 in Allen, Texas. She was born June 29, 1929 in England, Ark. to Amanda and Allen Townsend. Elverene graduated from Star City High School and worked many years as a secretary and receptionist, including several years at the Little Rock Zoo. She was a long time resident of Mabelvale and then Cabot, but spent her last years in Texas. She was of Baptist faith and loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 50 years, Wayne Barrentine. Survivors include two sons; Ron (Lisa) Barrentine of Allen, Texas, Carl (Tammy) Barrentine of Littleton, Colo.; sister, Juanita Whaley of North Little Rock; brother, Jerry Townsend of Redfield and grandchildren Jason Barrentine (Mackenzie) and Tyler Barrentine both of Dallas. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 700 N.
