Iris Phoncene Henry, 88, of Loudonville, N.Y. passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side and went into the presence of the Lord on January 6, 2016. She was born in El Paso, Arkansas on April 2, 1927. She was the daughter of the late John Williams and Pearl Coffey Williams and the beloved wife of the late George Ralph Henry. Iris and George were married for 59 years before his passing in 2005. Iris grew up in Old Austin, Arkansas. She graduated from Ward High School in 1945 and then went on to business college. Iris was a mother and homemaker. In addition, she worked as a church secretary and Sunday school teacher at Landmark Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Ark. She retired after working in an insurance office in Jacksonville. After the passing of her husband in 2005 she moved to Latham, N.Y. to be near her loving family. She was a faithful member at Latham Bible Baptist Church where she ministered to others through her cards and prayers. She was also a member at Landmark Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Ark. for 16 years and a member at Second Baptist Church for 27 years. Iris will be remembered as a strong woman of faith. Gracious and kind, she was the picture of Southern gentility. In her lifetime she blessed the lives of many, and we will all be forever touched to have known her. Iris is survived by her sister, Katie Weeks of Cabot, Arkansas; her loving son, Michael Ralph Henry and daughter-in-law, Elaine Henry of Loudonville, N.Y.; her grandchildren, Amanda Stark and her husband Patrick Stark, Miranda Henry, Susan Henry, and Jessica Smith and her husband Michael Smith. Furthermore, she is survived by her great-grandchildren, Caroline Grace Stark and Charlotte Faith Stark. She is also survived by her nephew, Neal Weeks of Georgia, her nephew, Edwin Henry of Arkansas, and her nieces, Myra Hyde and Jerrye Mae Keathley of Arkansas. Visitation will be at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 10-11 a.m., with service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Old Austin Cemetery.
