Charles Leslie Brown

Charles (Charlie) Leslie Brown, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Charlie was born on March 8, 1927 to Leslie Nelson Brown and Francis Willard (McCumber) Brown in Centerton, Arkansas. He answered the call to serve his country in the Army near the end of World War II, spending his enlisted time in France. He married his sweetheart, Jean Wiseman, on May 25, 1947 and began a journey that reached an amazing 61 years prior to her passing on November 10, 2008. Charlie was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and was a math teacher. He was a lifetime member of Gideon's International, Siloam Springs Kiwanis Club, member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and member of the American Legion. Charlie was a volunteer fireman for the City of Siloam Springs. He owned and operated the The Insurance Office in Siloam Springs, and Charlie Brown Insurance Agency in Bentonville for many years prior to his retirement. Throughout his life, he loved to fill his time with flying, woodworking, going on scenic drives, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son – James Leslie Brown, and two brothers – Harold Dean Brown, and Winslow Eugene Brown. He is survived by his son – Charles Eugene Brown, and his wife Lane (Hobbs) Brown of Birmingham, Ala., and daughter, Lydia Jean (Brown) Noll and her husband Alan Dwain Noll of the home. He is also survived by five grandchildren – Emily and Nathan Christensen of Bartlesville, Okla., Kirk and Carolyn Brown of Springfield, Mo., and Jacob, Jared, and Jackson Noll of the home, and 12 great-grandchildren – Sarah, and Zachary of Muskogee, Okla., Rilie, Cobie, Billie, and Jessica of Springfield, Mo., and Mary, Alex, Kirk, Barrett, Anber, and Kyrie of Bartlesville, Okla. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, January 18, 2016, Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
