Tressie Olene Curry, 80, of Little Rock, passed away January 17, 2016. Born in Havana, Arkansas, to Monroe Emberson and Naomi Witt., she was retired from the Little Rock Public School District. She was a lifelong and devoted member of Western Hills United Methodist Church. There she was a member of the UMW, the United Methodist Women's Group, served on various committees, and volunteered at the Food Bank there to serve others in need. She was also a member of the Westwood Garden Club, where her gift of nurturing translated into her beautiful gardens which gave her so much joy. Her nurturing extended to her beloved dog Ella and into her love of birdwatching. She continued to serve in the Westwood Neighborhood Association where she and her "senior gals" patrolled the neighborhood streets as vigilant crime stoppers. To her children, "Mom" was simply the most doting, unselfish, and supportive person one could ever dream to have as a parent. To her six grandchildren, "Nana" was hugs and kisses, trips to the swimming pool and the zoo, and surprise goody bags just because. She was their biggest cheerleader and attended all their dance recitals, tennis matches, basketball and football games, track meets, and volleyball games. She adored all of her grandchildren and was proud of each and every one of them. They in turn, worshipped the ground she walked on. A novel couldn't possibly enable us to depict all of the wonderful memories and stories we'd love to share about her. The only phrase that could possibly encapsulate her life and memory would have to be unconditional love. What an everlasting gift she left us all and we will forever be grateful to have had her in our lives. Preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bobby Curry, she is survived by her children, Ronald Curry (Beth) of Little Rock, Regina Pitts of Little Rock, and Renee Wood (Martin) of Cabot; and her adoring six grandchildren, Sarah Curry, Shelby Curry, Jacob Pitts, Jordan Pitts, Rachael Wood and Molly Wood. She is also survived by brothers, Daniel Emberson of Ola, Floyd Emberson and Charles Emberson, both of Dardanelle and Robert Emberson (LaWanda) of Beebe; and her sister, Frances Eaton of Dardanelle. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20 from 6-8 p.m. and services on Thursday, January 21 at 1 p.m., both at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Memorial gifts may be made to Western Hills United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501) 224-2200. Mrs. Curry's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
