Mary Dale Laux

Mary Dale Crye Laux died Jan. 19, 2016, in Conway. Born March 19, 1921, in Springfield, Ark. to George and Cleo Vivian Moses Crye. She grew up in Morrilton, graduated from Morrilton High School and Central College (now Central Baptist College) in Conway. She then trained at Draughon's School of Business and worked at Jennings Fixture Company in Little Rock. She worked at the Arkansas Ordnance Plant in Jacksonville, the primary facility for the development of fuses and detonators for World War II. She married Gerald Laux in 1943, and from 1948 to 2005 they were partners along with other family members in Blue Ribbon Shoe stores, started by her father in 1925. During their 65 years of marriage they enjoyed extensive travel. She served as a volunteer at St. Anthony's Hospital, Red Cross Bloodmobile, as a Girl Scout leader, and on the Morrilton Cemetery Improvement Association. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Morrilton and had been a member of Petit Jean Garden Club and the Adelaide Club (charter member). Mary was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Laux in 2009. Also predeceasing her were her parents, her sister, Vida Helen Crye Loyd, brother-in-law, James "Boogie" Loyd, and nephew, Bill Loyd. She is survived by son, George Laux and wife Nan of Richmond, Va.; daughter, Carolyn Laux Eastham and husband Alan Eastham of Little Rock; daughter, Ann Laux Turney and husband David Turney of Conway; grandsons, Greg Laux and wife Sunny Wang of Cincinnati, Ohio; Geoffrey Laux and wife Jessica Parsons Laux of Richmond, Va.; Mark Eastham of Fayetteville, and Michael Eastham of Washington, DC; nieces, Marianne Loyd Estes of Little Rock; Barbara Loh of Oppelo and Jane Adams of Austin, Texas; nephews, Jim Loyd and wife Terri of Perry; Chris Laux and wife Tracy of Boca Raton, Fla.; Steve Laux and wife Elaine of Cary, N.C., great-grandchildren, Cecilia and Griffin Laux of Richmond, Va., Carter Laux of Cincinnati, Ohio, and great-nephews and great-nieces. The family wishes to thank her friend Vicki Knapp and the staffs of Southridge Village Assisted Living and Home Care Assistance in Conway for their wonderful care. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 105 W. Church St., Morrilton, Ark. 72110 or the Morrilton Cemetery Improvement Association (Elmwood Cemetery), P.O.
