Alice Briley

of North Little Rock, AR, 1933 - 2016

Alice Ann Cheek Briley, 82, of North Little Rock passed away January 20, 2016. Alice graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1951 and was always active in her class reunions and with the Lady Wildcats whom she loved. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church, first at the old First Baptist Church in downtown North Little Rock and later Central Baptist Church. Alice Ann believed in serving her community through a variety of activities and organizations and did so throughout her life. Just a few of her activities included life time membership in the PTA, the Garden Club and many years as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. Alice also helped with the Cub Scouts, baseball and football and importantly was a Gold Star Mother. Alice had a deep love for her family and friends as well as her city and country.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Cheek and mother, Madeline as well as by her son Donovan Briley. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bob Briley and their three sons, Duke (Vicki), Danny (Leslie) and Micah (Margie) Briley. Alice also leaves behind eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service honoring her life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Central Baptist Church, 5200 Fairway Ave., North Little Rock, with a visitation from 4 to 5:30 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2016 at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street. Burial will be in Edgewood Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, North Little Rock. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com.
