Margretta Ann Owens Daniel
Missouri City, TX, 1934 - 2015
Margretta Ann Owens Daniel, aged 81, passed on November 21, 2015 and was reunited in Heaven with her husband William (Bill) Charles Daniel. Greta had been living in Missouri City, TX after having spent 20 years in Hot Springs Village. She dedicated her life to being a kindergarten and first grade teacher. She touched the lives of many young children while living in Germany, Tennessee, Arkansas and Texas. The many lives she touched are evidenced by the notes she saved from her students that stayed in touch with her well into their adult years. Some of those children became teachers themselves crediting Greta as their inspiration.
Born September 4, 1934, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., Greta had a great example to follow in watching her Aunt Beulah teach her first grade classes. That experience led her to become a teacher after graduating from Henderson State Teachers College in 1955. She was very active being a member of various honor societies and social organizations. When Greta and Bill retired to Hot Springs Village in 1990, Greta dearly loved being able to reconnect, and travel, with many of her college friends from Henderson State. She was a volunteer at Christ of the Hills Methodist Church becoming a Stephen's Minister and leading Grief Support groups. While living in The Village, Greta and Bill enjoyed spending time on the golf courses playing together and with a close group of friends that they dearly loved.
Greta is survived by two sisters, Joan Carol Tyler and Mary E. Pullen, two sons, Bill and David, daughters-in-law, Tammy and Michelle, and five grandchildren, Krista, Trisha, Shanna, Trevor and Laura; nieces, Terri and Cherie were the daughters she never had.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested to be made in Greta's name to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer Research (www.alzinfo.org). Remembrance Service will be held at 1 p.m., February 20, 2016, at Christ of the Hills United Methodist in HSV on Balearic Road.
