George C. Howell, 93, of Scott, Ark. passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Mr Howell was born November 11, 1922 in Friendship, Tenn. to Horace and Mallie Coffman Howell. He was an Army veteran of World War II. A lifelong Episcopalian and 32 ̊ Mason of Lodge 51 Lonoke for over 69 years. Mr. Howell was employed at Meyer Bakery Little Rock as Plant Engineer and over saw the construction and design of the plant in Orlando, Fla. Later he was Ships Captain, Commodore of the Ark River Yacht Club, managed and owned a Yacht Club Marina and Later roamed the Arkansas River in his craft the "Ruby P" with his family. His last business was a marine industrial supply of Scott, Ark. He was Proud, Honest loved his family and the land and always looked forward to planting and the harvest. A farmer to the end. Mr. Howell is preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruby Pearl Eagle Howell, his parents, two brothers, Rivers and Harold Howell. Mr. Howell is survived by his daughter, Pamela and husband Bill Ryker of Scott, his grandson whom he loved, Kevin Howell Ryker (Jennifer) of North Little Rock, his princess, Ashley Brooklyn Ryker; great-granddaughter and his only sister, Nita Carrington of Memphis, Tenn. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews, his cat Fruit Jar and two devoted dogs Jake & Sandie. During the cold winter months George Howell constructed table size crosses hand made out of the walnut wood from the farm. A small plaque was attached to each cross denoting the memory of each cross. Over 50 of these crosses have been presented by Mr. Howell.
