Louie (Bud) Karel, Jr. was born near Gregory on Feb. 17, 1922 to Louie Sr. and Flora (Bruns) Karel. Bud enlisted in the US Navy on July 23, 1943. Bud was honorably discharged on Feb. 4, 1946.
Bud returned to the farm and married Ardyth Warnkvist on Feb. 7, 1949.
Bud passed away on Jan. 21, 2016 with his three children by his side at Gregory Hospital at 93 years old.
Bud is survived by his three children: Gary (Linda) Karel, Sioux Falls, S.D., Sandy (Mike) McBride, Dallas, S.D., and Jim (Terri) Karel, Bentonville, Ark.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Bud was preceded in death by his wife Ardyth, his parents, and one granddaughter.
