Beloved family matriarch, Barbara K. Barnes finished her earthly Journey and crossed the bar to be with her savior, January 23, 2016. Lifelong northwest Arkansas resident, born to John Lee and Jewel Mathew Hilburn in Rogers, Arkansas on July 15, 1934. She was reared and educated in Springdale and moved to Fayetteville upon marriage to her lifelong partner Howard Barnes. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Robert Hilburn; a sister, Michie Daniel Dacanay and two nephews. She is survived by her husband of over sixty years, Howard J Barnes; one daughter, Karen K Barnes; two sons, Bob Barnes and wife, Debbie and Steve "Bo" Barnes; and former daughter-in-law, Carol Cribbins-Barnes; and three grandchildren, Mistie Barnes, Brooklyn Barnes and Tanner Barnes; and sisters, Doris Lundeen, Jessie Howard and Sharon Burman; as well as nieces and nephews. Barbara worked in the office at Jones Truck Lines in the early years and later at Washington Regional Medical Center, and assisted in the family trucking business. She was involved in many charitable and community activities and particularly her membership to the Order of the Eastern Star. It is with deep appreciation that the family thanks and acknowledges the outstanding care and love given to her by the staff of Shiloh Rehab and Nursing Center in Springdale. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at Beard's Chapel. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Beard's Chapel. Burial following at 2 p.m. at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Barbara asked that donations be made to improve mental health education and services in Arkansas.
