William "Whitney" Jones of Little Rock passed away January 21, 2016. He was born July 22, 1950 in Little Rock. He graduated from high school at Castle Heights Military Academy in Tennessee and attended college at ASU in Jonesboro and the U of A in Fayetteville. Whit had over 30 years experience in the media, including positions at newspapers in Arkansas, Texas and Missouri. He began his newspaper career as a sports writer for the Benton Courier, later operating his own newspaper The Pacesetter. During his career Whit held the position of Editor at the Benton Courier and the Log Cabin Democrat in Conway. Whit was an avid sports fan, practically the Razorbacks. Left to remember Whit are his son Fulmer of Booneville, his parents, Dr. Curtis Jones and Anita Sanders Jones, a brother, Kurt of Conway, a sister, Emilia Chastain (Fred), a very special friend, Lisabeth Hoffman, and nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016, 1 p.m. at Ashby Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Claire Caldwell of St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock.
