Edythe Garnetta Chambers of Searcy ended her one hundred year journey on earth on Monday, January 25th and began her journey in eternity. Born on December 1, 1915 in Judsonia, Arkansas to parents Clancy W. Burkett and Zada Mae Hopper Burkett, she graduated from Judsonia High School and married her husband , Forrest Chambers, in Little Rock on August 6, 1935. They were married for 35 years until his death in 1970. After his death she moved to Searcy in order to be near her mother and sisters. Edythe was a homemaker, taking wonderful care of her family and was especially known for her delicious chicken and dumplings, cakes and candies she made for all of her children and grandchildren until her health would no longer permit. Edythe is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters, Cleo Bierschenk, Martha Snow, Mary Sue Fraser; brother, Carl W. Burkett; her granddaughter, Lori Nicole Chambers and son-in-law, Donald Morse. She is survived by her son, Tony M. Chambers and daughter-in-law, Margaret Chambers of England, Ark., daughter, Peggy Morse of St. Louis, Mo.; sister, Nell Boeker of Glen Carbon, Ill.; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. The family will gather with relatives and friends at 1 pm on Saturday, January 30th, 2016 in the chapel at the Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Ark. followed immediately at 2 p.m. by a Celebration of Life Service with interment at the Rest Hills Memorial Park. Bro. Wayne McLean will officiate. Edythe was loved dearly by all of her family and the many friends she made during her 100 year journey.
