James Andrew Phillips

James Andrew Phillips, age 70, of Oakland, Calif. passed away Friday January 15, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Seatrice Phillips and a sister, Hope Beasley. James is survived by his son Eric Phillips and two daughters, Joy and Dana Phillips. He is survived by two brothers, Napoleon (Dorothy) Phillips and Earl Phillips. His surviving sisters are Wanda (William) Bunton, Ura Phillips and Carolyn (Sam) Garrett. James is survived by one former wife, Mildred Swift Phillips. He graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1963 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Music from Arkansas A.M.&N. College in 1967 James joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity in 1966. He was a retired teacher from the Oakland School District, Oakland, Calif.
