Lynda Tackett

Lynda "Jeanne" Tackett, age 71, of Fayetteville, died Monday, January 25, 2016 in Springdale. She was born October 9, 1944 in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Willard and Lynda Lois Bell Worley. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Darren Tackett; her son-in-law, Pat Bembenek; her parents and her step-father, Malcomb "Buck" Magness and a sister, Suzie Stanick. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter, cousin, friend, volunteer, advocate, and career woman. A 1961 graduate of Adamson High School in Oak Cliff, Texas, she attended Texas Tech University to study languages in hopes of being a U.N. interpreter until she met the love of her life, Marine Corporal Gerald Tackett who she was married to for 52 years. She was a member of University Baptist Church. She was a lover of family, country and God and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In 1979, she set a new standard when she became the first female manager for a major insurance company in the state of Texas where she worked until 1996 when she retired to care for her two new grandsons. In 1998, she moved with her husband from Dallas to Fayetteville where they designed and built their dream home in the hills. Not one to sit still, she pursued her love of history and became an active volunteer with several local organizations. She was active in Marion Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, having served as Regent from 2008-2010 and held several Arkansas Society DAR state offices including editor of the Arkansas State Newsletter (2010-current) and Osage District Director (2012-2014). She also volunteered at Shiloh Museum of History in Springdale, Washington County Historical Society and was the former President of the Washington County Arkansas Genealogical Society (2006). She was an amazing cook, a world traveler, a generous hostess, and an accomplished genealogist and historian. She never turned away a child or an animal who needed her. She was the strength and light of her family and to all who were privileged to call her friend. She is survived by her husband, Gerald Tackett; two daughters, Lynda Denise Tackett Bembenek and her husband David Lee Cavins of Fayetteville; Sherry Elaine Tackett Wright and her husband James Bryndan Wright of Mansfield, Texas; daughter-elect, Gina Griffith Richroath of Collinsville, Texas; four sisters, Melissa Worley Trimbley, Michelle Worley Willmond, Debie Patton and Trudy Bailey; six grandchildren, Sgt U.S. Army Matthew Eli Bembenek, Grant Jesse Bembenek, Wade Tackett Bembenek, USMC Lance Corporal Andrew Jameson Wright, Kathryn Elaine Wright, and U.S. Army Major Melissa Victoria Bembenek Schroeder and her husband Capt. Drew Schroeder; two great-grandchildren, Cambria Bembenek and Jane Schroeder, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 11 a.m. – 12 noon, Friday January 29, 2016 at Moore's Chapel. Funeral service will be 12 noon Friday at Moore's Chapel with burial to follow at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
