Max Roy Moore of Fayetteville, died the evening of January 10, 2016 in Jacksonville, Fla. Max was the son of Granville Moore and Hallie (Massey) Schrum, both of Mt. Vernon, Ill. and both predeceased him. Max was born December 1, 1934, in Mt. Vernon, Ill.. Max grew up in the Chicago area where, after leaving school, he became quite successful as a steel salesman. He later moved to Arkansas, where he founded South Central Steel, in Lowell. He is survived by his brothers, David Moore of Rogers, Steve Schrum of Cisne, Ill., and Kenneth Schrum of Citrus Heights, Calif.; and his two children, and his two grandchildren: Paul Moore and Anna Moore, of Fayetteville; Claudia (Moore) Gibson, spouse Mark Gibson and Wesley Max Gibson, of Jacksonville, Fla., as well as the mother of his children, Janice Moore. Max had a passionate interest in music and supported the Northwest Arkansas Jazz Society by co-sponsoring concerts. He passed on to his children and grandchildren a love for classic movies, the ability to quote Groucho Marx, an appreciation for art and literature, and the knowledge that he always believed in them. A Memorial Eucharistic Service for Max Roy Moore will be held in Fayetteville at Mt. Sequoyah Retreat Center at the Martin Chapel at 11am on Saturday, January 30, 2016.
