Jamie Elizabeth Calhoun, 51, passed away on June 26, 2016 at her home in Hot Springs. She was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas where she attended Hall High School. Later, she attended Colorado State and Henderson State Universities where she graduated with honors, earning a B.S.N. in nursing. To Jamie, laughter was always the best medicine. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Whitten. She is survived by her parents, Ruby and Mike Bush of Hot Springs. Most importantly, Jamie's gentleness and embracing mom hugs will be missed by Matthew Calhoun, her son and the light of her life. She will be remembered by her brother, Christopher Whitten, and her other siblings, Laura (Albert) Plunkett, and David (Amy) Bush and also her numerous nieces and nephews. She also left behind her constant companion, Slim the Cat and his early morning greetings in bed. A memorial service with a reception following will be held in the chapel of Gross Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016. In lieu of flowers the family asks memorials be made to The Garland County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1484, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71902.
