Kevin Britt Fowler, 58, of Conway, died March 3, 2016, surrounded by family at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn. He suffered complications from a spinal cord injury sustained last May. Kevin was born Oct. 1, 1957, in Conway, Ark., the youngest of three sons of the late Charles Winfred and Elsie Truman (Ferguson) Fowler. His early years were spent in New Home between Guy and Quitman, Ark. Kevin attended Conway Public Schools graduating Conway High School, Class of 1975. At 16, Kevin began working part-time for Ward Body Works (Amtran), now known as Navistar International Corporation (IC). Upon graduation, Kevin went full-time, serving the better part of a 33 year career as electrical division supervisor. Concurrently, Kevin attended the University of Central Arkansas with an emphasis on music and business. Kevin had an abiding interest in music which began in early childhood due to family role models. As a youth, Kevin mastered the guitar and keyboard and honed his skills by practicing music with friends. As an adult, Kevin played country, blues, classic rock, and contemporary rock and was a member of several local bands, including Kornerstone, Kountry Kool Band, Wolf Bayou Band, Left Of Center, and Mason-Sutter Band. Kevin was also a core member of the house band for the weekly blues jam held Sundays at O'Henry's Restaurant (now Taylor's Made Café). Kevin, an unpretentious man with an authentic, folksy drawl and unrushed manner, was tall in stature and long in benevolence. His innate qualities of consistency, levelheadedness and professionalism made him a devoted husband, father, brother, staff-member, supervisor and friend. Kevin's absence leaves a permanent void in the hearts of his family and friends and in the tenor of the local music community. Kevin is survived by his wife, Sundae Lee (Bass) Fowler of Conway; son, Jason Drew Fowler of Conway; step-son, Julius Joseph Greenwood of Conway; brothers Charles Frederick "Fred" (Annadell) Fowler of Little Rock and James "Jim" Randle (Mary Anna) Fowler of Brownsville, Texas; paternal aunt Barbara Jean Gentry of Mabelvale; uncle Harry Fowler of Conway; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and countless friends. A memorial celebration of Kevin's life will be held Sunday, April 3, 2016, 4 p.m., at Taylor's Made Café, 283 Highway 365, Conway, Ark. 72032, where Kevin often played. Afterward, stay for the 6 p.m. Sunday Blues Jam dedicated to Kevin by his friends. Flowers may be sent to Taylor's Made or 2112 Arkansas Avenue, Conway, Ark. 72034. In lieu of flowers, buy a child a musical instrument and always support live local music.
